This new composition is about three paintings by New York artist Mark Kostabi, whose canvases are permanently featured at The Cutting Room. A new Arrangement of ‘New York, New York’ will be the finale and feature the voice of 12 year old Sebastian Pritsker. Gerson Galante will be the clarinet soloist and Charles Coleman conducts.
We are looking at a foot of snow accumulating here in the North East. I’m from California and this will never seem normal to me! 🙂

This is how I get in and out of NYC. Tonight I’m headed in to watch the book at Kinky Boots.
Broadway vocalist Rosena M. Hill (Come Fly Away, The Color Purple) and her husband, Grammy-winning trombonist Jason Jackson (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band), pay tribute to the legendary vocalist Sarah Vaughan.
With jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut, saxophonist Don Braden, bassist David Wong, drummer Neal Smith, and trumpeter Greg Gisbert the couple together known as “JACK&HILL MUSIC” present a unique musical experience of Jazz, Blues, Broadway, Cabaret, Standards, American Songbook, Spirituals, Latin, and original arrangements into their performances, telling the story of Sarah Vaughan through the music she recorded.
Certified jazz royalty, the late, legendary Vaughan (b. 1924 in Newark, NJ) was nicknamed “The Divine One.” Jazz critic Leonard Feather called her “the most important singer to emerge from the bop era.” Ella Fitzgerald called her the world’s “greatest singing talent.”
The Sounds of Sarah Vaughan keeps her musical legacy alive and introduces new generations to Vaughan’s take on clasiic tunes.
Here I am taking a break from my performance schedule to cook home made Italian sauce and pasta with Grandma and Mom. See the process from moms garden to the table. Good cooking is passed down generation to generation. As a professional jazz musician, I can appreciate the similarity of how Jazz is also passed on from generation to generation.
The video is set to music from my latest release “INSPIRATION.”

Personally I think Slide got the better of Bill this time. 🙂
